The bond that liberates

There are relationships that will always remain close and dear to your heart. These are such trusted and loving relationships. I’ve always remained teachable in relationships I find myself in. I find the soul being elevated in the sight of authentic and realistic relationships. Where there is little to no reservation, bearing in mind I’m speaking about real relationships, not the kind where you just kickin it.

I’ve dated two men who have seen me as not just a woman in their lives but also a sister. Now we generally use these terms so loosely however as Africans we are relatively still in tune to our real African roots. We still look into the soulful spaces of the relationship we are in, it's how we excel in respect. I notice that resonating often in our lives. But I digress. The validation of the sister/ brotherhood in a relationship is almost as befitting as a gold star rating in your role as that person’s partner. Let me explain. When one can honestly feel at home in and around you believe me when I say that is the bond that liberates, it also allows you to be at your premium best. You expect more from yourself before you expect it from another. It’s matured over time and it doesn’t lend itself to just anyone.

If someone sees you in the level of a sibling connection it means they see you as someone they can tease, laugh with, cry and argue with and not be afraid of what that could do to the both of you. Sparks fly when you both understand this. You are lovers that carry a sibling emotional bond that is not associated with incest. I don’t want your thoughts to dive head first into the disgusting gutter. I’m not approving incest here, simply stating that the unreserved nature of sibling affection can be applied in relationships. This level of relationship explains that you have also transcended beyond the physical appearance and attraction.

Many will read this and never experience it, that’s fine. I’m no expert in relationships and will never profess to be one. However what I’ve experienced and that is all this blog is based on, is to explore the possibility of applying respect in relationships that is family and sibling orientated. It could also help solidify the two of you in a different way. Since it’s the month of love I hope we all extend love in our own authentic ways.

  1. Syabonga Mbali for sharing. It is indeed beautiful to experience it .❤️ Respecting and understanding your partner is very important.

My favorite is the teasing part, you find yourself laughing hours later thinking 'uyang'jwayela yaz , ngizomubamba'😂

Speak to God

Spiritual work and a spiritual life are unspoken and unnoticed daily activities known to man. You might say to me - but that's obvious. But because of the space we find ourselves in, other things take precedence over our spiritual time. We find people priding themselves in the work ethic and how much they have built, good as that is one can neglect the spiritual growth needed to enjoy the finer things in life. In order to have a fulfilled life your spirit has to be a happy one. A person on their deathbed will always express the importance of enjoying life, they hardly mention the need for money and assets as they slip onto the other side. People may even say spiritual activities are designated for certain people. However, connections with God are not always smooth sailing. This is because there are multiple ways that your spirit might connect with God. Questions I have for you are, are you aware of how to connect with God? Do you know that there might be several ways that ...

Muted Men

It all started with a tweet from a lady I respect and admire @KirtyBisset (Nov.16) that read, “Shout out to the fragile men.” I then replied to her saying that her tweet speaks to me my heart and that I wanted to write a blog about this very thing and she encouraged m e to go on and do it. I’ve been wanting to speak about the silencing, disrespect and abuse of men and how this has been ignored for far too long. My final wakeup call was when I realised that gender violence doesn’t really have a preference to which gender it will choose, it just violates. I have been reading up on this for years and my interest comes from a multitude of seen and heard stories amongst people I know. I know men who have been assaulted by women whom they had trusted and loved. I have watched women in my family abuse men physically or verbally. I have seen this reaction come out of anger and I have seen it come from pure malicious intent of trying to provoke a man just to see how far they can go. My...
